Iranian Border Guards Detain 48 Boats Carrying Smuggled Fuel in the Persian Gulf
Iranian border guards have detained 48 boats in the Persian Gulf that were transporting smuggled fuel, according to Reza Shojaei, the commander of border guards in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
“During several operations, 48 boats transporting smuggled fuel have been identified and detained,” Shojaei stated, as reported by the Iranian IRIB television channel.
He noted that a total of approximately 73,000 liters of smuggled fuel were seized from the 48 boats. He added that there were 99 individuals on board the vessels, all of whom have been arrested.
Shojaei indicated that the value of the seized fuel amounts to over 62.38 billion Iranian rials (approximately $48,000).
