Moscow to Continue Developing Cooperation with Cuba: Zakharova
Cooperation between Russia and Cuba is not directed against third parties. Moscow will continue to develop it for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and to strengthen international security and stability, stated Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing the United States to impose import tariffs on goods imported from countries that sell or supply oil to Cuba, declaring a state of emergency citing a supposed national security threat emanating from Havana.
“Russia and Cuba have special historical ties. Our traditions of comprehensive cooperation have deep roots and enjoy wide socio-political support in both countries. At the same time, as we have repeatedly emphasized, this cooperation is not directed against third parties and cannot be viewed as harmful to anyone’s interests. We are firmly committed to consistently developing it for the benefit of our peoples and for strengthening international security and stability,” said Zakharova.
