Trump Gives 'Green Light' to Bipartisan Sanctions Bill Against Russia: Senator
U.S. President Donald Trump has given a 'green light' to a bipartisan bill that allows sanctions to be imposed on countries such as China, India, Brazil, and others that purchase Russian oil, as announced by one of the initiative's authors on the X social platform.
The bill has been developed by Senator Lindsey Graham in collaboration with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal and other senators. The document proposes imposing a 500% tariff on imports from countries that buy oil, gas, uranium, and other goods from Russia.
Graham expressed that the adoption of the law would be timely, stating, “as Ukraine makes concessions for peace, Putin is merely talking while continuing to kill innocent people.” He added that the bill would enable President Trump to punish countries that buy cheap Russian oil, thus supplying “fuel for Putin's war machine.”
Lindsey Graham anticipates that a vote on the bill in the U.S. Congress could take place as early as the beginning of next week.
