US Plans to Continue Venezuela Sanctions for At Least Two Months
The Washington administration intends to maintain its maritime blockade of Venezuela's shores for at least two months, preventing the entry and exit of oil tankers from the country, Reuters reports citing an American official.
“While the option of using military force remains, attention is being directed toward applying economic pressure through sanctions imposed by the White House to achieve the desired outcome,” the official stated.
According to the official, Washington hopes to create a threat of “economic disaster” in Venezuela by “the end of January,” pressuring Caracas to agree to significant concessions to the United States.
