Paid Parking Lots to Operate Near Border Crossing Points

The government has approved a draft law amending the "Customs Regulation" legislation. The development of this draft law is conditioned by the necessity to regulate the flow of freight transport vehicles at the land border crossing points of the Republic of Armenia, shorten the service period by customs bodies for outbound departures from Armenia, simplify the border crossing process, eliminate traffic jams and queues at crossing points, and ensure the effective and unobstructed implementation of various types of customs and border control processes.

The draft proposes to establish paid parking lots adjacent to the automotive border crossing points of the state border, within the framework of which a relevant electronic system for queue management will be implemented. This system aims to facilitate the exchange of necessary information regarding the registration of freight transport vehicle movements, queuing, and granting permission for entering the crossing point.

With the organization of these processes, it is expected that queues and traffic jams will not occur in the area of the crossing point due to the prior availability of information on the freight transport vehicles and the goods transported by them and the indication of necessary control processes.
