Mother Cathedral Denied Right to Freehold State Land Usage
The Armenian government has decided in its year-end session that the Mother Cathedral can no longer manage state and community-owned land with freehold rights. From now on, these lands can only be allocated to the Mother Cathedral for use under a right of gratuitous exploitation.
The government proposed amendments to the Land Code, stipulating that municipal and state lands would be provided to the Mother Cathedral for construction and service purposes, not under freehold rights, but solely under the right of gratuitous use. This corresponding draft was included in the agenda of today's government session.
