Russia Will Consider Cutting Ukraine Off from the Sea If Kyiv Continues Piracy Against Russian Ships, Putin Says
Attacks on tankers, even in neutral waters, constitute piracy, especially when occurring within another state's exclusive economic zone. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“If this continues, we will consider retaliatory measures against the ships of those countries that assist Ukraine in these actions. The most radical option would be to cut Ukraine off from the sea. In that case, it will be impossible for them to engage in piracy at all,” said Putin.
It should be reminded that earlier, the tanker "Midvolga 2," carrying sunflower oil from Russia to Georgia, was attacked by Ukraine 80 miles off the coast of Turkey.
