White House Issues Critical Statement
The Press Secretary of U.S. President Donald Trump, Caroline Levitt, stated in an interview with The Telegraph that the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) operates as a "left-wing propaganda machine." This statement followed the publication of a memo by former BBC journalist Michael Prescott, addressed to the corporation's board of directors.
Prescott documents that the BBC distorted Donald Trump's speech from January 6, 2021, the day of the Capitol events. According to the memo, the broadcaster altered the timeline of the speech and presented the events in a way that created a misleading impression of the content of the president’s remarks.
Levitt noted that such material is the result of "targeted and manipulative editing," which proves the BBC’s “entirely false” nature. She added that there are many questions raised against the BBC, which, according to her, still require answers.
