Matviyenko to Rubinyan: Russia May Advise Its Citizens Not to Visit Armenia
Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia, stated in a phone conversation with Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, that Russia may advise its citizens not to visit Armenia if the arrests of Russian citizens continue at the request of third countries.
During the conversation, the parties also discussed Armenian-Russian relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation. Matviyenko noted that Yerevan's statements about the importance of maintaining relations with Russia often do not match practical steps, in her view.
Both sides emphasized the importance of resuming the work of the inter-parliamentary commission, mentioning that its next session is expected to take place soon. According to the Federation Council of Russia, the phone call was initiated by the Armenian side.
