«During the anthem, my body was tingling»: An interview with Janes Nazaryan, the champion in Baku
The double champion of the U-17 Wrestling World Championships, Janes Nazaryan, spoke about the tournament held in Baku, the feelings of victory, and his dreams. In an interview with Sputnik Armenia, the 17-year-old athlete shared that the emotional moment during the Armenian anthem was indescribable.
“My body was tingling throughout the anthem. It was such a pleasant feeling; I wish every person could have that experience at least once in their life,” said Nazaryan.
He noted that although the tournament took place in Baku, where the pressure from the audience was greater, it did not stop him from focusing on the match. “I only heard my coach's voice; nothing else mattered. The cheers just motivated me,” the champion recounted.
Janes Nazaryan also addressed the growing attention towards him, stating that he does not wish to change and has no intention of falling victim to “star syndrome.” “If Malkhas Amoyan has achieved all this and remained humble, I am too young for such a syndrome to affect me,” he said.
The young athlete expressed his desire to be remembered not just as a champion but as a humble and kind person. He also shared insights into his childhood, sports journey, and future plans. He began wrestling at the age of 4 and now wishes to pursue an education at the Armenian State University of Economics and eventually enter the business field.
Janes Nazaryan also discussed his interests, favorite books and movies, as well as his personal life. For more details, refer to the original source.
