Council of Europe Secretary General Responds to Armen Sarkissian's Letter
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, has responded to a letter from Armenia's President Armen Sarkissian regarding the prompt return of all Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held by Azerbaijan.
“We continue to closely monitor the humanitarian and human rights situation in and around Nagorno-Karabakh. She also informed that the PACE Migration Committee is currently preparing a report titled “Humanitarian Consequences of the Conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.” “Please allow me to assure you that the Council of Europe will do everything within its mandate to support both member states in achieving long-term peace and prosperity in the region, and will utilize every opportunity to raise issues related to humanitarian and human rights,” Marija Pejčinović Burić stated in her response letter.
