This is the Right Medicine: Whittaker on Possible Sanctions Against Iran
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whittaker has stated that Washington continues to engage in dialogue with Iran amid the potential resumption of sanctions against Tehran. "We are having negotiations with Iran. We are talking to everyone, as we should. This is our work—to resolve issues through diplomatic means," said Whittaker.
Whittaker added that the U.S. would like to find a permanent solution and reach an agreement on the restoration of sanctions, noting that if they cannot do so, the sanctions will remain as they should be. "This is the right medicine against what is happening," emphasized the special envoy.
He mentioned that the U.S. does not wish to harm the Iranian people, but Iran is in a difficult situation as the E3 (United Kingdom, France, and Germany) has initiated the mechanism for resuming sanctions in accordance with the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding Iran's nuclear issue.
