US President's Envoy Visits Gaza Strip
US President's Special Envoy for Middle Eastern Affairs, Steve Witkoff, has visited the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, where he is set to assess food distribution centers. This was reported by the BBC.
Today, he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after which both parties announced that they had an 'effective' discussion.
Witkoff's visit to Gaza includes inspecting aid distribution sites operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF), which is supported by the US and Israel, and has replaced the UN's aid distribution mechanism since May. Since then, humanitarian organizations have reported numerous fatalities of Palestinians at the GHF's aid distribution centers located within Israeli military zones.
The UN Human Rights Office has stated that at least 1,373 Palestinians have been killed while waiting for humanitarian aid since May.
