Russian-Ukrainian Talks to be Held Again in Istanbul, Erdogan Says War Will End

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope that negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will be organized in the near future, leading to the end of the war. He made these remarks after a meeting of the Turkish government.

In the context of negotiations that took place in Istanbul between Ukraine and Russia, Erdogan noted that Turkey has intensified its efforts in the realm of peace diplomacy. “From day one, we have been committed to a balanced, fair, and peaceful policy in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Turkey sincerely wishes that just as a negotiation table was set up in Istanbul, a peace negotiation table will be organized in Turkey in the near future, and this bloody war will come to an end,” Erdogan added.

As is known, the third meeting of representatives from Ukraine and Russia aimed at seeking a “peaceful resolution” took place on Wednesday, July 23, in Istanbul. The first phase of negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation was held in Istanbul on May 16 of this year, and the second on June 2.

During a press briefing following the meeting, Alexander Bevz, chief of staff to the president, reported that the Ukrainian side once again proposed holding a meeting at the leaders' level in August during the meeting with the Russian delegation in Istanbul.
