Trump Administration Offers Proposal to Yerevan and Baku
The administration of US President Donald Trump has presented a proposal to Yerevan and Baku regarding a road connecting Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan through Armenian territory, reports Oleksya Vardanyan, an analyst at the Carnegie Foundation, referencing two foreign diplomats.
The American proposal is similar to a variant circulated by the European Union years ago, which was based on an agreed program between Russia and Georgia after the 2008 war. Under this plan, the parties intended to transfer the management of routes passing through the disputed regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia to an independent Swiss company, which would be obligated to later share logistical data with all interested parties.
