Who Was the First Foreign Leader to Meet with Pope Leo XIV?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has become the first foreign leader to meet with Pope Leo XIV since he assumed office. This was reported by The Times, citing the Vatican's press service.
President Zelensky and the First Lady spoke with the Pope, and they will hold a private meeting. This will be their first official encounter. Prior to the meeting, RBK-Ukraine reported, citing comments from the president's press secretary, Sergey Nikiforov, to journalists.
According to him, the reception was set to occur today following the official liturgy. Earlier, Sky News had reported that the Pope would meet with Zelensky. On Monday, he had already communicated with Zelensky via phone.
