Immorality Must Have its Limits, Says Zhanna Andreasian
One individual is publishing statistical data regarding the state of schools, noting how many schools lack water supply, sewage systems, and hot water supply, and concludes that this reflects the government's attitude towards schools. On Saturday evening, a few straightforward lessons in literacy were shared by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasian on her Facebook page.
“Anyone utilizing official statistics should, at least due to past experience, know that official statistics are published with a one-year delay, meaning that data from 2023 will be published at the end of 2024. They should have also heard at least once that the government is implementing a program for 300 schools, and they should have some understanding that statistics do not reflect ongoing construction or reconstruction efforts, as those figures appear only after completion. In that sense, it is more than logical that the more than 220 ongoing construction projects have not yet been represented in those numbers,” she wrote.
“Even in this case, there is a classic example of manipulation in the record. You have registered 42 schools without water supply as of 2023, whereas in 2017, the number of schools lacking water supply was 72, meaning that, even based on those figures, excluding current programs, the number of schools facing this issue has decreased by 30. You mentioned that 97 schools lacked sewage in 2023. In 2017, schools without sewage numbered 137, which is 40 more. You state that 1,023 schools did not have hot water supply in 2023, while in 2017 the number of schools lacking hot water was higher by 264, totaling 1,287.”
“Add to this the data for 2024, which has not yet been published, and the other ongoing capital construction projects, and feel free to disregard school construction - there you will have no chance of finding even a single statistic indicating that the situation in previous years has not been significantly worse. I always think that immorality must have its limits. It appears that it does not!” the minister wrote.
