In That Case, Tehran Will Be Ready: Ali Shamkhani
Tehran will be prepared to limit its uranium enrichment levels and eliminate its stockpile of highly enriched uranium if the U.S. agrees to lift sanctions against Iran. This was reported by NBC News, citing Ali Shamkhani, political advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and a general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Tehran would also be willing to allow international observers access to its nuclear facilities and agree to enrich uranium solely for civilian purposes. Shamkhani expressed hope that the U.S. would "act in accordance with its statements" and acknowledged that in this scenario, relations between Tehran and Washington "could improve."
The Iranian official criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's rhetoric, who previously claimed to offer Iran an olive branch while threatening to "exert maximum pressure on Tehran" if the U.S. proposal was not accepted. He also believes that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will try to obstruct a potential agreement between the United States and Iran.
