I Don't Know Where This Information Comes From: Rubio

Washington is not opposed to inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to reporters following the unofficial meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Antalya today.

Rubio denied media reports that the U.S. side was allegedly against inviting Zelensky to the NATO summit, which will take place in The Hague on June 24-25. “I don’t know where this information comes from,” he said.

The Secretary of State noted that during the meeting of ministers in Antalya, “many of my counterparts raised the issue of inviting Zelensky, and I was not opposed to it.” He also reminded that the summit is expected to see the participation of leaders from four Asia-Pacific countries, and the alliance has long had a practice of inviting representatives from non-NATO countries to meetings.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Kaspar Veldkamp announced that the question of Zelensky and the Ukrainian delegation’s participation in the NATO summit will be decided by the alliance's Secretary General Mark Rutte.
