Details on the Case of Welcoming Anna Hakobyan at Tsitsernakaberd with 'Nikol the Traitor' Remarks
The court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, presided over by Judge Zhora Chichoyan, has found Tigran Dermoyan guilty of welcoming Anna Hakobyan, the wife of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial with remarks such as 'Nikol the Traitor' and 'Nikol the Genocide.' According to the court's decision, Dermoyan has been sentenced to a fine of 375,000 drams. This information was reported by Pastinfo.
It is noteworthy that on April 24, 2024, at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial, Anna Hakobyan and her daughter were 'greeted' with chants including 'Nikol the Genocide,' 'Nikol the Traitor,' 'Turk,' 'Without Turk Armenia,' and others. Anna Hakobyan was only allowed to approach the eternal flame through the intervention of police forces.
On April 24, 2024, during Anna Hakobyan and her daughter's attempt to approach the eternal flame at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial, public statements inciting hatred, discrimination, intolerance, or enmity were made by a group of individuals. In this regard, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia initiated a criminal case under Clause 1 of Part 2 of Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Public speeches aimed at inciting hatred, discrimination, intolerance, or enmity by a group of persons, as well as distributing materials or objects for that purpose).
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, seven individuals were detained, but charges were brought against only one person, Tigran Dermoyan.
