Severe Geomagnetic Storm Expected in the Coming Hours
The DSCOVR satellite has recorded the arrival of coronal material from the Sun. Levon Azizyan, the director of the State Hydrometeorological and Monitoring Center, announced this on his Facebook page.
A strong G3 geomagnetic storm is forecasted for the coming hours, during which the aurora borealis will be visible at mid-latitudes.
DSCOVR is located at the Lagrange point, approximately 1,500,000 km away from the Earth’s surface, aligned with the Earth-Sun line.
