US Secretary of Defense’s Order Amid Iranian Threats
The US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, has ordered an increase in American airpower in the Middle East to counter Iranian threats. This was stated by Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby.
Kirby mentioned that the order was in line with President Donald Trump's directive of 'peace through strength.' Austin directed the reinforcement of the US Central Command's maritime position with aircraft carriers and the deployment of 'additional squadrons and other aerial assets to further enhance our air defense capabilities.'
'The United States and its partners remain committed to regional security within the US Central Command's operational area and are prepared to respond to any state or non-state action that seeks to expand or escalate conflict in the region,' he said.
