Powerful Eruption on the Sun
A powerful M5.6 class eruption occurred on the Sun today, according to the Institute of Applied Geophysics. The event was reported to TASS, noting that it took place on April 1 at 09:46 Moscow time, lasting for 16 minutes within the X-ray spectrum of sunspot group 4046 (N02E29).
Earlier, scientists had reported a systematic increase in solar activity, with the most intense series of eruptions observed in sunspot group 4048. Solar flares are classified into five categories—A, B, C, M, and X—based on their X-ray output. The minimum A0.0 class corresponds to 10 nanowatts of radiation per square meter. Each subsequent class signifies a tenfold increase in power.
Such eruptions are often accompanied by solar plasma ejections, which can cause magnetic storms upon reaching Earth.
