Republican Stadium May Face Disqualification Due to Inappropriate Behavior of Fans
During the UEFA Nations League match between Armenia and the Faroe Islands, the behavior of certain groups of fans has placed Armenia's Republican Stadium, named after Vazgen Sargsyan, the only stadium in the country meeting UEFA's international standards, under special monitoring by UEFA. This information was shared via the Facebook page of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA).
According to UEFA's conclusion, if similar incidents occur again, the Republican Stadium will be disqualified, which means that the Armenian national team and local clubs will not be able to play in this stadium. Most importantly, this situation will severely negatively impact the chances of hosting the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2029 (jointly with Georgia) in Armenia.
We condemn such behavior from fan groups, seeing it as a tendency that harms Armenian football. We call for refraining from such expressions of behavior and to focus exclusively on supporting our teams during matches.
