Pashinyan Speaks About Prisoners in Baku
Of course, on an emotional level, I share all these feelings, and I understand the demands and statements of all those people. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and I have also made statements that provide clear assessments, and we are making possible diplomatic efforts in this direction. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan while discussing the Armenian prisoners in Baku.
“But let us state one thing — we have a problem of better understanding the world. We think that we have invited all the ambassadors and articulated that the issue will be resolved. No, it is not like that. In this context and in all other contexts, we need to understand the world better. Sentiments are sentiments, but we also have to act according to principles, and we are trying to do so. In all negotiations, we raise the issue of prisoners. Moreover, we raise these issues even in negotiations with Azerbaijan. Efforts are being made in this direction that are not visible because, as long as they have not yielded results, they are not visible. Information about torture is already clear. We did not want to provoke torture or the use of prohibited means with our statements. Why are we making a statement now? Because we see that we can no longer provoke, as that has already happened,” Pashinyan said.
