It Can Already Be Called Into Question: Avinyan
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has announced that reforms of public transport in the capital are ongoing; however, this depends on citizens and their diligence.
"If we continue to not pay for public transport with various justifications, I assure you that the reforms we have planned will simply slow down. For example, this year we planned to buy 45 trolleys, which can already be called into question," he stated.
"Those who board the bus and do not pay support the agenda that there will be no purchase of 45 trolleys this year in Yerevan. They do not want continuous development but rather the opposite—they want the technical condition of buses to deteriorate because the funds are directed towards the modernization of buses, the metro, the payment of salaries, and other such expenses.”
He also discussed further steps, stating that the time for justifications has passed: "I suggest moving on to the application of appropriate measures so that those guided by justifications do not act this way."
