Media Reports Suggest Armenian Suicide Bomber May Have Killed 'Arbat' Battalion Founder

On the previous day, an explosion occurred in the 'Al Araghastner' residential complex, resulting in several injuries and two fatalities. Investigators believe that an assassination attempt was carried out.

According to media reports, the explosion was executed by a suicide bomber. The identity of the assailant is still difficult to ascertain as the body has been disfigured due to the blast. However, a knife tattoo was found on the left shin of the corpse, leading to speculation.

One theory suggests that the male suspect was an Armenian citizen with a criminal background.

It is noteworthy that Armen Sargsyan, the 46-year-old president of the Donetsk Boxing Federation and founder of the 'Arbat' battalion, sustained serious injuries in the incident. He was urgently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Botkin Hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away without regaining consciousness nearly two hours after surgery.

Investigators are treating the explosion at the elite residential complex as an assassination attempt against Sargsyan. Recently, he had been particularly serious about security matters, often traveling with security personnel equipped with special devices to detect explosives.
