Jermuk Group Responds to Lawsuit Against It
Jermuk Group LLC has denied reports in the media regarding a lawsuit filed against it. The company issued a statement in response, highlighting that the published claims contain falsehoods, constitute defamation, and violate the presumption of innocence. According to the company, neither the initiated criminal proceedings nor the numerous investigations (including those by the competent authorities of the Russian Federation) have substantiated that the death of Oleg Gusov, a resident of Vladikavkaz, was caused by drinking Jermuk mineral water or the contents of a factory-sealed bottle of Jermuk mineral water.
The company further stated that the lawsuit filed by the deceased’s family is entirely unfounded, as there is no connection between Jermuk mineral water and the unfortunate incident involving the resident of Vladikavkaz, thus absolving Jermuk Group LLC of any wrongdoing.
“Moreover, in the criminal proceedings initiated by Russian law enforcement concerning Oleg Gusov’s death, Jermuk Group LLC is not even a party to the proceedings,” the company added.
They also reminded that following the incident, the relevant evidence based on investigations was presented to the Russian authorities by the competent bodies of the Republic of Armenia. Additionally, investigations conducted by Russian authorities have also proven that Jermuk mineral water meets the requirements established by international standards and is suitable for consumption. As a result, all restrictions on the sale of Jermuk mineral water throughout the Russian Federation have been lifted.
Previously, the newspaper Kommersant reported that the family of businessman Oleg Gusov, who died due to the acetic acid found in a bottle of Jermuk mineral water, has filed a lawsuit against Jermuk Group, demanding 1.5 billion rubles in compensation and cessation of the product's sale.
