New Details on the Case of Stealing Flowers from Tombstones in Yerablur
A request for the arrest of three individuals involved in stealing flowers from tombstones in Yerablur has been submitted. Kim Avdalyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, reported this to NEWS.am.
“On January 9, 2025, public criminal proceedings were initiated against two individuals under the first point of the second part of Article 254 of the Criminal Code, while one individual was charged under the first point of the second part of Article 46-254. Applications have been submitted to the court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan to apply pre-trial detention as a preventive measure against the defendants. The investigation is ongoing,” he stated.
It’s worth noting that on January 4, a video surfaced online showing individuals stealing flowers from the tombstones of servicemen buried at the Yerablur military pantheon. The Ministry of Defense reported that those depicted in the video have been identified and located by the Military Police. Materials concerning the incident have been sent to the prosecuting authority, and criminal proceedings have been initiated under the first point of the second part of Article 254 of the Armenian Criminal Code for theft committed by a group of individuals.
