Doctors Halt Work for Nearly 2 Hours, Situation May Escalate: What is Happening at Artashat Hospital
The situation at Artashat Hospital is tense and may worsen further, as salaries amounting to approximately 500-600 million drams have not been paid. Today, doctors stopped working for nearly 2 hours, waiting for the Minister of Health and the governor of Ararat, but they did not arrive. As for the head of the health department at the regional administration, he has gone on vacation.
Auroranews received this alarming report from Artashat Hospital. We contacted the Ministry of Health, where they stated: “The crisis surrounding the Artashat Medical Center is not new; there are financial and management issues that the minister is aware of.”
The ministry also indicated that it does not provide salaries to Artashat Hospital; they receive funds for state orders and services rendered. “We have conducted several visits; the latest was two days ago. A professional committee has been established to implement crisis management and find solutions. The Ministry of Health has also reported this issue to the Prosecutor's Office. Minister Anahit Avanesyan plans to hold a separate meeting with the doctors of Artashat Medical Center. Unfortunately, we cannot comment on why the head of the Ararat region's health department went on vacation at such a difficult time,” said Ministry spokesperson Mariam Tsatryan.
