How Much Will the Base Salary of Chief Researchers Be from 2025?
In 2025, the salaries of science employees will increase. This was stated by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, during the discussion of the draft state budget for 2025 at the meeting of the National Assembly's committees on science, education, culture, diaspora, youth, and sports.
"We expect an increase of up to 300 percent. For example, if a chief researcher currently receives a salary of 138,000 drams, starting from January 1, 2025, they will receive 552,000 drams. This is just the base funding; if the researcher is involved in thematic or grant projects, they also receive bonuses and compensation from those programs," announced the minister.
According to her, there are people who have returned from the private sector to the field of science. "This makes me happy because it's one thing to talk about science in numbers and descriptive texts, and another to see those people who benefit from these programs and share their experiences of how these programs have impacted them," Andreasyan stated.
It is noteworthy that in the state budget for 2025, 300 billion drams will be allocated to the education sector. This figure will exceed the 2024 expenses by 4.5 percent and will account for 2.7 percent of the GDP.
