Paris 2024: Varasenik Manucharyan Fails to Advance in Qualification Round
Swimmer Varasenik Manucharyan was unable to advance past the qualification round at the Olympic Games taking place in Paris. The representative of Armenia recorded a time of 1:01.24 in the 100-meter event.
Today, three other Armenian athletes will compete: Elmira Karapetyan (shooting qualification), Arthur Davtyan and Vahagn Davtyan (qualifying rounds in vault and rings gymnastics).
It is worth noting that the opening ceremony of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games took place on July 26 in the French capital, Paris. For the first time, the opening was held not in a stadium, but on the Seine River with boats. Athletes from 206 countries paraded their national flags in front of the crowd in Paris. The flag bearer for Armenia was boxer Davit Chalyan.
Armenia has a total of 15 representatives in the Olympic Games, participating in 7 sports: shooter Elmira Karapetyan; gymnasts Arthur Davtyan and Vahagn Davtyan; Greco-Roman wrestlers Arthur Aleksanyan, Malkhas Amoayan, and Slavik Galstyan; freestyle wrestlers Arsen Harutyunyan and Vazgen Tevanyan; weightlifters Andranik Karapetyan, Garik Karapetyan, and Varazdat Lalayan; boxer Davit Chalyan; swimmers Varasenik Manucharyan and Arthur Barseghyan; and runner Yervand Mkrtchyan.
