50 Passengers Denied Boarding: FlyOne Clarifies

Dozens of passengers on the Yerevan-Chisinau-Yerevan flight were unable to depart due to a change of aircraft. Aram Ananyan, Chairman of the Board at FlyOne Armenia, spoke to Sputnik Armenia, highlighting that the aircraft change occurred due to operational necessities.

Earlier, one of the passengers scheduled for the 15:00 flight from Yerevan to Chisinau contacted the media, stating that he and around 50 other passengers were not allowed to board the aircraft, and no explanation or justification was provided.

"For situations like this, the airline has a clear policy. Representatives of the airline presented all possible options to the passengers at the airport," Ananyan stated. He added that during the summer season, such issues can occur with all airlines. The problem is purely operational-technical.

“Since the aircraft that was supposed to operate the flight had a smaller capacity than the previous one, some passengers were offered to change their flight dates to a later time today or to another subsequent flight,” he explained.

Ananyan emphasized that individual work is being done with each passenger to resolve the issue. Addressing the question of how it happened that some family members were allowed to fly while others were not, Ananyan explained that the redistribution of passengers was handled automatically by the system due to the aircraft change.

The passenger who contacted the media also mentioned that athletes from the Ararat-Armenia club flew in place of some of the unboarded passengers. At the last minute, some of the seats of the absent passengers were filled with the athletes.

According to the schedule at Zvartnots Airport, the next flight of the airline from Yerevan to Chisinau is expected at 01:00, with another scheduled for July 24 at 15:00.
