Israel and Hamas Close to Establishing Ceasefire: CNN
Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement are close to establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This is reported by CNN, citing an Israeli source familiar with the negotiations.
"Israel and Hamas appear to be on the brink of an agreement regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages," the article states.
The source elaborates that Israeli officials believe that Hamas's response will allow both sides of the conflict to begin detailed negotiations. However, it is necessary to obtain approval from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu first.
The Prime Minister's Office and the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad previously released a joint statement noting that a response had been received from Hamas regarding the offer for the exchange of hostages.
The response was conveyed through intermediaries. Prior to this, on May 31, U.S. President Joe Biden had presented the terms of a new plan aimed at a peaceful resolution of the situation in the Gaza Strip.
