«Haybusak» Rector Received Money from Several Individuals Under the Pretext of University Admission
The rector of «Haybusak» University has allegedly received tuition fees from various individuals under the pretext of admission to the university. The total damage inflicted on the victims amounts to 15 million drams, which has been recovered. This information has been reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.
According to the announcement, “From 2013 to 2017, the rector of «Haybusak» University and several employees collected fees from various individuals under the pretext of enrolling them in the Ijevan branch of the university.”
On May 6, 2024, the Prosecutor initiated public criminal proceedings against the rector of «Haybusak» University, S.H. (Surik Harutyunyan), and several staff members under the article of large-scale fraud.
On the same day, S.H. compensated the 15 million dram damage caused to the victims of the crime.
The investigation is ongoing. On June 10, 2024, Yerevan Prosecutor Rafael Manukyan sent a request to the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports, and Culture of the Republic of Armenia to discuss the annulment of the forged diplomas mentioned in the request, the legality of the licensing of «Haybusak» University LLC, and the possibility of terminating the current rector's tenure.
