Citizens Block Street with Hay Bales as Police Remove Them
The situation is tense at the Komitas-Gyulbenkyan intersection. Activists participating in a protest have scattered bales of dry hay on the street in an attempt to paralyze traffic.
Police are using force to detain peaceful protesters. They have been removing the hay bales from the roadway, but the asphalt is significantly contaminated.
Since this morning, streets in Yerevan have been blocked on the initiative of Bagrat, the leader of the Tavush Diocese. Specifically, Abovyan, Teryan, and Vardanants streets have been closed. The Red Berets began to use force on Abovyan and Teryan streets to detain citizens participating in the protest. They knocked one citizen to the ground and took several people into a police vehicle.
During a rally held the day before, the Bishop called for 'total strikes, work stoppages, to paralyze the entire city and various regions of Armenia from 8 AM' to express dissent against injustice and evil.
