Kiran Residents Remove Tents Set Up on the Road
Residents of Kiran have removed tents set up on the Armenia-Georgia interstate road at the Kiran section, effectively reopening the route that had been blocked for two weeks, following demands from the police. However, law enforcement continues to keep two entrances to the village closed, specifically from the Sarigugh and Baghanis sides. This was reported today, May 3, by local residents in a conversation with NEWS.am.
It is important to note that early yesterday morning, around 6 AM, a large police force arrived in the village of Kiran, where they used brute force to detain residents who were blocking the road, including minors. Hours after the incident, those who were detained were released.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement indicating that the Ministry of Defense is conducting demining operations in the Kiran-Kheyrimli area, which is why the roads have been closed. Journalists are also being denied entry into the village.
