Children Participating in Gathering Injured in Kiran Brawl Transferred to Hospital – RA Human Rights Defender
After the incident in Kiran, children participating in the gathering were also transferred to the "Ijevan" medical center. This information was reported by the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
Earlier, it was reported that police used stun grenades during a clash with residents blocking the road in Kiran, resulting in several individuals sustaining minor injuries.
The Human Rights Defender considers the involvement of children in such incidents concerning, as well as the implementation of gathering formats that do not serve the best interests of children. The statement emphasized the need for competent state authorities, event organizers, gathering participants, mass media, and other actors to ensure children's rights during their free participation in gatherings. This includes protection from any form of violence, access to education, and consideration of the child's best interests.
The head of the Tavush regional division of the Human Rights Defender's office has conducted private conversations with the victims and their relatives at the "Ijevan" medical center, who shared additional details.
The staff of the Human Rights Defender's office noted that they are operating in emergency mode, including the Tavush regional division.
It should be recalled that on April 19, the commissions on border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to start demarcation from the Tavush region. The description of the border segments will be prepared based on the clarification of coordinates obtained through geodetic measurements in the area, which is expected to be completed by May 15, 2024.
