Investigative Committee Issues Warning
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident of burning tires on the Yerevan-Yeraskh interstate highway on April 24. Unknown individuals, intending to act with hooliganism, demonstrated a blatant disregard for legal norms by moving and accumulating numerous tires in the roadway of the Yerevan-Yeraskh interstate highway within the administrative territory of the Masis community on April 24, 2024, at 16:25, using vehicles marked 'Ford Transit', 'BMW X5', and 'Mercedes Benz'.
To achieve their goal, they set the tires ablaze in a manner that obstructed traffic in both the Yeraskh and Yerevan directions for a certain period of time.
In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Masis investigative division of the Ararat regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 297, Part 2, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code (group hooliganism).
The police have been tasked with conducting necessary operational and investigative measures to identify and locate the individuals who committed this criminal act and to present them to the prosecuting authority.
Within the framework of the criminal proceeding, all necessary measures are being undertaken to clarify the circumstances of what happened and to hold the individuals who committed the crime accountable.
The RA Investigative Committee warns against actions aimed at obstructing the traffic on interstate and other major roads that ensure public order and the functioning of the Republic through such criminal means. All such incidents will be subject to thorough investigation, and individuals who commit crimes will face criminal responsibility.
Note: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code through a court ruling that has taken legal effect.
