Video: River Floods Part of City in Kazakhstan
In Aktobe, Kazakhstan, the Sazdy River has overflowed its banks, flooding parts of the city. Local media reports indicate that some residents are able to catch fish with their hands right from the streets.
The streets of Seytovy and Mame Tovay, as well as areas adjacent to the Keruen City shopping center, are underwater. Approximately 1,000 employees and 200 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working to mitigate the aftermath of the flood.
An emergency situation has been declared in Kazakhstan's Kostanay region due to the risk of flooding. Rescuers have evacuated 434 people.
