Rockfall on Road to Jermuk: One-Way Closure
As of March 22, at 08:30, the road is closed in one direction. Employees of the Vayk Road Department continue to carry out rock removal operations.
On March 20, at 11:56, the crisis management center of the Vayots Dzor regional rescue administration received a notification that a rockfall had occurred on the section of the road from the M-2 highway leading to the city of Jermuk, causing a complete closure of the road.
An operational group from the fire and rescue unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has been dispatched to the scene. It was determined that a rockfall (approximately 300 cubic meters) occurred at the 2nd kilometer of the road leading from the M-2 interstate highway to Jermuk, resulting in the total blockage of traffic.
The rescuers have cordoned off the area and established monitoring. Workers from the Vayk Road Department have been using specialized equipment to clear the rocks.
