Around 900 Medications Will Not Be Included in the List of Drugs Dispensed with Electronic Prescriptions
There are around 900 medications that will never be included in the list of drugs dispensed with electronic prescriptions. This was stated by Marine Harutyunyan, the head of the Pharmaceutical Policy and Medical Technology Department of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, during a discussion on the issues and advantages of electronic prescriptions held at the Media Center. She detailed that these medications will include painkillers, antipyretics, as well as all antiviral drugs that do not require a prescription.
“There was a panic among our population; people were already asking whether even the simplest medications would require a prescription. I want to reiterate that this change applies to antibiotics with a systemic effect, meaning creams, eye drops, etc., they do not fall under the regulation of this legislation,” added Harutyunyan.
In Armenia, as of March 1, the prescription of antibiotics is carried out via electronic prescriptions. According to the new regulation, pharmacies are required to provide the corresponding medications only if an electronic prescription is available. This change has been implemented for all patients.
