VIDEO: Gold Medal at the WKF Youth League Official Tournament

Armenian representative Anil Shariathpanahi has emerged victorious at the World Karate Federation (WKF) Karate 1 Youth League official tournament, securing a gold medal in the kata competition for the under-14 category. This marks the first time Armenia has claimed a gold medal in a WKF official tournament in the girls’ kata division.

This information was provided by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. In the Karate 1 Youth League tournament held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, the Armenian athlete competed in 6 matches and won the gold medal. Since 2023, Anil Shariathpanahi has been representing Armenia.

Earlier this year, Anil also triumphed at the Armenia Open 2023 international open championship. It is worth noting that another member of the Armenian youth karate team, Gor Nersisyan, recently won a gold medal at the 51st European Championship for youth and under-21 categories held in Tbilisi. In the under-21 category, Nersisyan, competing in the -84 kg weight class, won five matches to reach the final, where he emerged victorious against Macedonian Vitomir Trajkovski.
