Sanosyan Addresses Pothole Issue on Roads and Discusses Solutions
During the Q&A session between the National Assembly and the government, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan addressed the issue of potholes on roads in Yerevan and beyond and spoke about potential solutions.
Sanosyan stated that there are two maintenance regimes, summer and winter, and these works are primarily planned from April to November, to ensure proper service during the winter. "There are certain regulatory provisions related to the condition of the road. Patching is required; if the potholes are up to 5 cm, it is subject to a different type of repair. The actual regulation is that the company servicing the road must analyze its section according to these norms and accordingly perform the work for which it will be compensated," he noted.
According to the minister, pothole filling work starts at the beginning of April, considering weather conditions. However, if such issues arise in winter, solutions may be found using different materials until the weather permits pothole filling works.
