Who Said We Want to Change the Anthem and Emblem? Ruben Rubinyan
The adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia is the sovereign right of the Republic of Armenia, and only the people of the Republic of Armenia can decide whether to adopt the Constitution or not. This was stated by Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, during an appearance on Public Television, addressing claims that the Constitution of Armenia is being changed at the request of Baku.
“There is no new draft Constitution, no one has seen it. Where do these claims come from that it is being done at Azerbaijan's request? I say with full responsibility that the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia is the sovereign right of the Republic of Armenia, and only the people of the Republic of Armenia can decide whether to accept or reject the Constitution, in what form to adopt it, whether to refer to a declaration or to remove it. All of this is determined by the people of the Republic of Armenia, and the Republic of Armenia will also decide what kind of state it wants to see itself as and what it should be like in the next 20, 30, 50, or 100 years,” said the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
Rubinyan also reacted to the topic of changing the anthem and emblem, stating, “Who said we want to change the anthem and emblem, I do not want to change the emblem.”
It is noteworthy that yesterday, the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, mentioned in a telegram post that “the anthem should be Armenian, connected to our state and Armenian music, and comply with the rules of an anthem.” Regarding the emblem, Simonian wrote that “Armenia cannot be underwater, which would be a punishment for humanity, the lion cannot be like a Facebook emoji, and the sword protecting Armenia cannot be chained.”
