Nearly 600 Trucks Pile Up at the Upper Lars Border Checkpoint
According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs Emergency Management Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations North Ossetia crisis management center, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed for trucks. Approximately 600 trucks are waiting to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint.
Since January 21, all types of transportation have been prohibited from traveling to the Georgian-Russian border. Drivers are advised to use only winter tires.
