Legal Status of Reservists to be Codified in Case of Offenses Against Military Service Regulations
The legal status of reservists as subjects of offenses against the established regulations of military service is set to be codified. This was reported by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
The adoption of the draft will allow for a proper legal assessment of the violations committed by reservists and address the practical issues that have arisen. This information comes from the Armenian National Assembly.
The package of draft laws authored by MP Alkhaz Gazaryan regarding amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and an addition to the Law on Defense was discussed in the regular session of the National Assembly on January 15.
The draft proposes relevant changes to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, clearly establishing that individuals considered reservists are also subjects of offenses against the established regulations of military service.
The issue is currently relevant, as the Military Investigation Main Department of the RA Investigative Committee is investigating several criminal proceedings related to violations of the rules governing combat duty or military service by reservists. Under the current legislation, they are not considered subjects of offenses against military service regulations, and due to this fact, the criminal proceedings initiated against them are being terminated,” clarified the author of the legislative initiative.
