Kadyrov Offers US to Lift Sanctions on Relatives and Horses in Exchange for Ukrainian Captives
The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has proposed to release captured Ukrainian soldiers in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against his family members. According to TASS, he made this statement during the formation of law enforcement units in Grozny, where he was joined by Scott Ritter, a former UN inspector for monitoring the dismantling of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.
“We have captives that we took in Donetsk and Luhansk. I am passing our guest (the list of prisoners of war). If they remove sanctions from my mother, my daughters, innocent people, and horses, apart from me, then we will refuse these people,” TASS quoted Kadyrov.
TASS claims that Ritter was shown a video of the captured Ukrainians, in which they state that if the sanctions are not lifted from Kadyrov’s loved ones, his aircraft, and horses, 20 Ukrainian soldiers will return home.
The agency notes that Kadyrov's proposal has been condemned by some Russian 'military correspondents.' “Everything in this news is good, just wonderful, despite the fact that it is pure Asiatic and a manipulation with live goods. The only bad thing is that attempts are being made again in Russia to be above the state. Openly and demonstratively,” wrote military correspondent Yuri Kotenok.
