Russia Does Not Blame Armenia, Says Kopirkin

Russia sees that Armenia's foreign policy is seriously being corrected and redefined, despite the assurances of the Armenian Prime Minister that Yerevan is not changing its foreign policy vector. Such a statement was made by the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin in an interview with Armenia's public television, commenting on the words of Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov regarding the activation of cooperation between Armenia and NATO.

Kopirkin noted that the Russian side observes this redefinition in the development of Armenia's relations with other centers, which is certainly not negative. However, Russia is concerned that the collective West and the United States have declared Russia their strategic competitor and even enemy, as stated by some officials. Here, many officials are openly advancing their line, promoting cooperation with a spirit aimed against Russia. If relations with the West are viewed from this perspective, then Russia is twice as cautious regarding the matter.

Russia sees that the West's goal is to fight against Russia on all fronts, whether in the South Caucasus or other regions. “Russia does not blame Armenia for any changes in the foreign policy vector, understanding that Armenia is an independent state and has the right to determine its own policy,” stated Kopirkin.

The ambassador also emphasized that concern is normal considering the confrontation imposed on Russia by the West. The diplomat highlighted that, nonetheless, Russia continues to regard Armenia as a strategic partner and ally.
