Difficulties in Armenian-Russian Relations are Temporary, Lavrov Emphasizes Conditions for Resolution
The difficulties currently present in Russian-Armenian relations are temporary and can be resolved if there is political will. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with TASS.
“We are convinced that all the difficulties in the relations between Russia and Armenia are temporary and will be overcome if there is political will,” the minister said. Lavrov highlighted, “The stable and systematic development of Russian-Armenian ties is precisely what corresponds to the fundamental interests of the peoples of both states, who share common values and a unified cultural law.”
“The trade and economic ties and industrial dialogue between Moscow and Yerevan are developing at an impressive pace, which forms the foundation of the bilateral relations and serves as a crucial support for the stability of Armenia's economy and the well-being of its population,” Lavrov noted.
The Russian official also emphasized that Armenia's rapid GDP growth in recent years is “largely due to cooperation with Russia and Yerevan’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.”
“Next year, Armenia will preside over the EAEU; we wish our partners success,” the head of the Russian MFA concluded.
